Move over Rio, for the Star Rhino in Podol. Kiev’s expat favorite strip bar has been upstaged by newcomer Rhino, whose large disco balls, cosy sofas, and uber-friendly dancers are a paradigm shift from its competitor. Unlike Rio, where clients have to request the manager to bring a girl over, the dyevs in Star Rhino keep stopping by every few minutes for lap dance requests, as in Moscow strip bars. And they’re more than happy to cuddle next to you for a few inexpensive drinks. Since there’s more girls working, and poppier, funnier music, the vibe is warmer and saucier.

It also helps that the managers at Star Rhino are cute coeds in tight hotpants, unlike the Matrix-like bouncers at Rio. We were there for the first time last night during one of Kiev’s coldest, and had a pretty hot evening. We haven’t tried the sushi yet, nor the take-out. Although, wait, unlike Rio, there is none. You can’t take the girls home from this joint at least. So in that respect Kiev’s premier expat striphouse still has an advantage. Other than that, it’s so good we feel a bit bad about writing it up on this site. Oi vey.
